Peregrine falcons once soared throughout the United States, but by the 1960s, peregrines had disappeared from all states east of the Mississippi River. Now, thanks to reintroduction and management, peregrines are back in our cities and on natural cliffs, and they are nesting in Wilkes-Barre!
*Discover trials and successes of
peregrine recovery with peregrine biologists.
*Examine the role of urban habitats for a
successful recovery. *Explore peregrine research and
monitoring efforts in our state. *Participate in hands-on activities that
you can use with your students. *View the peregrines in Wilkes-Barre (if
the weather and the birds cooperate).
Participating teachers will receive 5 Act 48 hours and peregrine background and activity materials.
Space is limited.
